Advert Description
A 1953 Queen Elizabeth II coronation 153 Butlin Beavers souvenir medallion. Condition is used. This was presented to me when I was at Butlin’s Holiday Camp with my mum and dad in 1953. I was just 6 years old and have kept it throughout the passing years. Its condition reflects its age. Please look closely at the images of the obverse and reverse of the medallion to observe the condition. I am uncertain of the exact metal from which it is struck, but it is not precious. Although appearing black in the images, it is in fact a silvery shiny grey colour. It feels quite heavy in the hand and weighs exactly 20 gms or 5/8 oz. Diameter is 38 mm or 1 ½ “. It is approximately 2 mm thick. This medallion is a real survivor and against all the odds, I have it 70 years later. I don’t see many on the internet so I assume it is now quite a rarity. It needs a new owner and so it is offered for sale in this auction.
