Uk Field Vole and Vivarium,
Lovely little girl Field Vole, 3½ months old,
She's rather fast, She HAS been handled, but I have to admit, not for a few weeks, I have just lost the very last of my Harvest mice (at 3yrs 6 months old) And it's with a heavy heart I've decided not to continue with my Vole breeding programme,
I've got grandchildren, and some extra health issues so it wouldn't be right, as I'm unable to give her the attention she deserves.
I did not have her brother (from a friend's litter) as I really wanted to get an unrelated male for her, My friend was soon to unindated with voles, had I not agreed to buy girly Vole, its not the way to start out,
She lives in the vivarium that's shown in the photo, which is approx 3ft long x 21" high x 19" deep with two glass sliding doors, with extra vents in the front and back,
She eats an array of seeds, fresh lettuce/veg etc and loves live mealworms, and adores the odd raisin (I will supply a couple of days live mealworm and seed mix) She does he wee wees in the same place, so cleaning is a breeze, just a scoop up to remove and a non additive/non scented baby wipe and your done. She makes a little nest with tissue paper. She's not a big climber (she does climb) but prefers to burrow, she has a heap of new clean bagged compost, she makes beautiful little tunnels and drags the tissue paper down under the compost. She plays in the day as equally much as she sleeps, so she has great entertainment value
