Impressive and charming late 19th or early 20th century oil on canvas of figures with horses on a village track. A delightful painting by listed artist James Walter Gozzard, 1862-1926. Signed bottom left.
The painting measures 46 x 35.5 cm. The frame is 59 x 48.5 cm.
Condition of the painting is good. Please view all photos for accurate condition. Frame has a small piece of gesso missing top right. Ready to hang.
James Walter Gozzard (1862-1926), aka JW Gozzard, was a prolific British genre and figure painter. He was “best known for his charming depictions in watercolour and oils of quaint scenes of the English countryside and villages.” Gozzard “favoured simple landscapes, often with depictions of people going about their daily routines.
