Advert Description
Blue is bombproof, great in open spaces, and never bucks or rears. She loves fun rides, hunting & hacking and will go out alone or in company. She is great fun to ride.
She can be quite strong-minded and needs confident handling on the ground and when ridden.
Will live alone but is happiest in company. Needs secure or electric fencing. She is a 'good doer', easy to catch and has never had any health issues. Happy to live out or be stabled.
Blue was taken on at the age of 5, with a foal at foot, by a 16 yr old who backed her and then hacked and hunted with her until two years ago. She had a second foal, who is now 2 and can be seen. She was sold at the end of 2022 to a home where she was barely ridden and then resold to me a year later.
When I rode her out, she did everything I asked of her; walked, trotted, cantered, came back to me whenever I asked. I turned her for home and with a bit of encouragement turned her back out again. However, once I took her on, I discovered that she was too strong on the ground for me (I am in my late 60s), rather bullied my older pony mare and, though she settled into a herd with 3 other mares, I could not keep her secure due to the poor quality fencing where I kept her (though when she got her foot stuck in some stock fencing - she just stood there while I went home to get some wire cutters and waited patiently for me to free her!).
Sadly for me, but fortunately for her, her previous long-term owner kindly agreed to have her back on loan to bring her back into work, ready for resale to a home where she can thrive and be enjoyed.
She has been back in work and ridden regularly for the past 6 months and is now ready for a new home.
She would be ideal for a teenager who wants a safe horse to go out and have fun with and would make a good mother/daughter share.
