This is a hardwood Fairtrade Tortoise ornament.
It was purchased in a Fairtrade shop in Chester between the late 1990's and the early 2000's.
It is made of sustainable hardwood.
The wood has been finished with dome nice colours.
The face had a solemn and serious look about it.
The approx. measurements are: the full length from the tip of the nose to the tips of the back feet is 14" (35.5cm), the height is 7" (18cm), the length of the body underneath is 10" (25.5cm), the full width is 8.1/2" (21.5cm) & the body width underneath is 6.3/4" (17cm).
It weighs 1.640kg.
The two back legs on the outside have minor cracks near where they join the body.
They were there when I bought it and have never changed. (See last 2 photos).
Otherwise the condition is good.
It is a nice ornament and it polishes up nicely with ordinary spray polish.
The reason I am selling is because I am downsizing my lifes collections.
It can be collected, it can be posted or I can meet within a reasonable distance.
I have other items for sale and I would be happy to combine and do a deal.
